Chesters Café by the River has been owned by Karen Lawrence and Steph Barton since 1985. It moved to its current location alongside the River Brathay in February 2004 after an extensive refurbishment. Today it is a uniquely situated place to enjoy an extensive range of food and drink. |

Chesters is named after a white English Bull Terrier who ruled
the roost at the Drunken Duck in the eighties. Chester was a loveable
rogue with a penchant for anything forbidden, tales of his antics
are legendary, although he himself is long gone. |
